Blog Post 2

Honestly, this blog was a bit hard for me to relate to as my family does not (sadly) keep things all that "traditional". We do I guess traditional things, but not certain special traditions to our family... if that makes sense?

My family does tell stories but I wouldn't say they go very far back, my grandparents and parents just tell stories of their life and how they were raised. My dad talks about how he was one of the "rebel kids" and my mom graduated early and how somehow despite them being such opposites back then, they had been together since 8th grade. My grandparents tell childhood stories or stories about how they got together. My grandma grew up in Circleville, Ohio which is a very very small town just an hour from Columbus. Circleville is known for this huge pumpkin show. The Circleville Pumpkin Show, she took us last year. It was honestly one of my favorite places I have ever been. Maybe because I liked seeing the old history of the town, but I think I really loved it because of my grandmas glowing face. She was so happy the entire time. To have us, her two grandkids, in the town she had grown up in. We heard many stories that weekend.

Anyway, the point thus far is that I haven't had to many major "stories" or memories that have been continually passed down. Although, I have heard a lot of great memories and stories of my parents and grandparents. I feel those will become just as important as anything because now, I can start the storytelling. It is a shame I do not know more about my family history but hey, better to start late than never right?
