 Dellroy Drive In 

There is a restaurant on route 39 in a small town between Carrollton and New Philadelphia Ohio called the Dellroy drive in.  It is located on the main intersection of the town and the town itself right by a lake. It is a newer looking building since its renovation but it doesn’t look modern it keeps its look of a family business that serves the town.

There isn't much available on the history of the restaurant, I actually couldn’t even the date of when it opened. But it has been there for some time because my parents tell me things about it. My parents tell me about going there when they were kids and how it hasn't changed much and it's still the same place. I know that the ownership has changed hands several times but fortunately it still stays the same. It was recently remodeled within the last 5 years and feels much newer but remains it's traditional and older feel. When you're inside it doesn't feel like a modern chain restaurant, I can't describe what exactly it feels like but it certainly does bring a feeling of the past and a more classic time with its decor.

I think this place is an important part of the town. It brings travelers and people from the lake. Every time I go there I see people running into each other or, I run into people myself, it's like there is always someone you know there. It's always a popular stop for the little league teams after a game. The restaurant attracts people driving through or people that went fishing and needed a quick bite or shake. The ice cream is surely the most popular item but there are meals such as fish, burgers and other such things on the menu for those that want it.

The reason I personally find this place important is because it is a place that I feel comfortable and more at home which is something that is hard for me to find because I came from a big city in the west and it is very different here. I can't exactly say why it is that I feel more at home here, but I do and I’m happy to have a place to feel comfortable. I assume that it's because of the sense of community I get when listening to all the people talking about past events and town things.

All this is important to what I think it means to live here. To have the small local communities and towns of people that know and support each other. To be different from the city environment where most people are independent despite living so close to others. It's important that small towns have their own businesses rather than major chains taking all the customers in addition to providing a place to work for the townspeople.
